A few weeks ago, my friend Erin (tuba Erin, not guard Erin...but both Erins are from Pittsburgh but not the same areas in Pittsburgh, but both did hs band too. It gets confusing sometimes). Anyway, she asked me what I was doing the Saturday of Thanksgiving break. Back then, this seemed to be infinitely far away, so I replied "uhh nothing" She told me I should do Trombones on Ice with her!
Now don't get me wrong, it sounded like a good time...but two things immediately came to mind:
I am clumsy enough on steady ground, let alone ice (with an instrument at least).
I do not play the trombone
I later discovered, however, that Trombones on Ice was just a name. It was actually a Christmas concert of sorts for any brass players. Well, I'm brass!
All in all, I had a good time! Got to play some of the classic Christmas songs (don't worry, it's post-Thanksgiving so Christmas songs are alright) see PPG all decked-out for the holiday, AND got a fantastic dinner (Ruth's Chris Steak House) out of the whole thing!
